Bisgaard is a Danish company founded in 2005. From their office in Aarhus, they design some of the most popular children's shoes in Denmark. Their philosophy is simple and clear: they create shoes for children who deserve the very best, with a comfortable fit that supports their feet. The shoes are naturally made from natural materials, which is why the fit is the starting point for every design and development process. The designs are simple and timeless, giving your child footwear that is both stylish and incredibly comfortable to wear. When you buy Bisgaard shoes, you also buy peace of mind – knowing that your child is wearing hard-wearing footwear that fits well and protects their little feet. All their shoes are handmade in Portugal, where their partners have many years of experience creating the very best styles in genuine leather, with great attention to detail. Bisgaard's first walkers are particularly popular as they are the first pair of shoes you buy for your child. Here, the shape and soft materials are especially important, as small children's feet need plenty of room and the right support while your child begins to explore the world independently. Designed for children and created with respect for nature

At Bisgaard, the fit is the starting point for every design. From the very beginning, it has also been natural for the brand to consider the environment and sustainability in every aspect of its business. Nature inspires their beautiful shoes and forms part of every stage of a boot's development, from the first line on paper to the choice of materials used in the finished product. Treating nature with respect and care is therefore very important to them. The natural materials are carefully selected, with no compromises made on design or quality.

All Bisgaard collections are free from harmful chemicals, and strict requirements are placed on suppliers and business partners to maintain this standard. They work with beautiful materials such as organic cotton and organic wool in their winter boots.

Overall, Bisgaard works with a range of initiatives to protect nature. For example, all packaging is FSC-certified, guaranteeing the protection of animals and plant life and ensuring that no more trees are felled than the forests can naturally replace. They also do not produce more shoes than they can sell. This means that the shoes are mainly made to order, minimising production waste – after all, our children can only wear one pair of shoes at a time.

Children have different head circumferences - choose one size up if your child has a slightly larger head than their peers.

Shoes and growth allowance

  • Growth allowance: approx. 1.5 cm for regular shoes.
  • Growth allowance: approx. 1.0 cm for ballerina or first-walker shoes.

Example: If the foot measures 15.0 cm, choose a shoe with an inner length of approx. 16.5 cm.

Socks and tights

Socks and tights may shrink slightly in the wash - choose one size up if in doubt.
